A rainforest actually consists of five different layers, each one filled with life. Tropical rainforests have the most varied collection of plants in the world. On the forest’s dark floor live a wide variety of creatures. from the smallest insects and spiders to ant eaters. Similarly, in the depth of the ocean, there is a large variety of beings as well. Rising a few feet above the ground is a layer of shrubs and seedlings struggling to grow in the deep shadows. Still higher is a cool, shady zone beneath the leaves of the taller trees where beetles, snakes and frogs crawl over ferns and vines. The canopy, the leafy roof of the forest， is home to many mosses, birds, snakes, and monkeys. Bursting through the canopy into the sunlight are a few towering trees of the uppermost layer, the habitat of birds like the brilliant red, blue, and yellow scarlet parrots.
