Passage 1
On Wednesday, China announced a 5.2 percent GDP growth for 2023, beating the government's aim of about 5 percent and far outpacing 2022's 3 percent.
"The 5.2 percent growth figure for China's economy in 2023 is a strong number," said Gary Hufbauer of the Peterson Institute for International Economics. He firmly disagreed with any claims that China's economy was faltering.
IMF's Kristalina Georgieva at the Davos meeting shared positive views, stating, "The Chinese economy met the national target... and actually exceeded it. That is good news for China and also good news for Asia and the world because China delivers one-third of global growth."
The IMF forecasts China's significant role in global economic expansion. Steven Alan Barnett from the IMF explained China's growth effects, saying a 1 percent rise in China's growth could boost other economies by 0.3 percent in the long term, spotlighting China's vital part in driving global demand.
